Pat of Chicago, Illinois has been making this family favorite recipe for years, but lately it has been really dry.


  • 4 Ounces butter 
  • 1 Cup sugar
  • 1 Cup apple sauce
  • 1 Cup raisins
  • 4 Ounces yogurt
  • 1 TSP ground cloves
  • 2 TSP cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup walnuts
  • 2 Cups flour
  • Pinch salt
  • 1 TBS baking soda
  • 2 TBS hot water
  • 2 1/2 Ounces vegetable oil

Procedure:  In a mixing bowl, cream together sugar and butter.  Add in applesauce, yogurt, raisins, spices, walnuts.  Mix well.  Add in flour and salt.  In a small bowl mix baking soda and water.  Add in to mixing bowl. Once completely mixed drizzle in vegetable oil and mix well.  Put into a greased and floured loaf pan and bake at 325-350 degrees for roughly 1 hour.  Let cool.  Enjoy!
